Karen Haddy
Karen Haddy describes the creation of her business in 1982 as "the course of least resistance" – meaning that it was what she was always meant to do. After receiving her BA in Journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, IA, she moved to Los Angeles and after a brief stint in advertising, she worked as the Recruiting and Employment Director of a fast growing Los Angeles-based menswear company where she learned the ins and outs of the apparel business. She led the charge when the company was the one of the first in the US to institute CAD systems, computerized material utilization programs and computerized cutting. Along the way she was mentored by some of the best and brightest in the apparel industry – from design, product development, manufacturing, distribution & supply chain through sales and buyer relationships.
In 1988, Karen moved her business from beaches of Marina del Rey, CA to the mountains of Telluride, CO continuing to expand her business into Outdoor, Athletic, Activewear, Sportswear and Lifestyle apparel and related industries. As her business grew, so did Karen, becoming a specialist in finding and recruiting brand creative, merchandising, design and product development talent that enabled her special clients to stay ahead of industry changes and their competition.
In 2005 Karen Haddy & Associates moved to Portland, OR, which is considered by many to be the hub of the sports apparel and footwear industry. At the same time, she joined forces with Martha Moore, a 17 year Nike veteran who has brought a fresh and energetic approach to their niche of Creative Branded Search. Together they provide their clients with a wealth of information based on their constant contact with leaders in the apparel industry.
Karen's intuitive and insightful style has allowed her to move well beyond executive search services into other areas of employment planning and change management. She has provided support and vision as well as created strategy to develop long term plans with her corporate partners. Karen continues to be an integral part of the ever changing apparel and related industries. Through her resourcefulness and extensive contacts, she continues to grow, build, and influence the retail marketplace. She has worked with many of her clients (and candidates) for over 20 years and feels privileged to have been a small part of their growth. Work with her once and you will understand how unique she is in the executive search world!
Martha Moore
Martha finds delight in making connections. Over her twenty year career, she's done everything from measure Michael Jordan's inseam to Mia Hamm's outseam. Martha has met legions of talented people over the past two decades and has thrived on helping them create their own path to success and deliver on their potential.
By the age of eight, Martha knew she wanted to design clothes for athletes. Thrilled with the blend of function and beauty, she graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Design and Environmental Analysis with a minor in textile science, and thus began her career. As a designer at Nike, Adidas, and as a freelance design consultant, Martha learned the power of connecting concept to commerce. Having honed the principle that when design and business work hand-in-hand they build a path that drives revenue, Martha has the experience to help create a beautiful brand.
During her jobs as a general manager, merchandiser, and recruiter, Martha exercised both sides of her brain equally in translating company vision into reality. Equivalent to the career version of learning how to shoot left handed, it has provided Martha with a more complete all-around game. Throughout Martha's career, she has let creativity take the lead and consequently learned how to fully combine the functional with the aesthetic. How do they coexist? By thoughtfully considering both throughout the entire product process, from initial concept development to consumer purchase.
Martha's design and management approach is about solving problems and connecting the dots. She deeply enjoys developing the potential in people and helping them discover their individual strengths and delights.
